Friendship's Chime

Could it be that, that I have a best?
A good? Or a sort of?
How can it be that she is better than others?
She is what keeps me from hating myself
Yet, the guarantees of our hardships are engraved in the metal
But I end up with laughs that sound forever in my mind
To look back on the past and know
The warmth of her truth and friendship
Is what can make my day.
Either tomorrow or that fifty-year mark
It doesn’t have to last forever
As long as she stays true to me
With our jokes and our fights and the
Way to solve my problem right.
And if the sound of the chime should fade
Those memories I have will keep the chime awake.
A lack of distance or time
Won’t harm this friendship’s chime.
For always and ever
No matter how cliché it may seem
A true friend will stay true to me.
