Gossip

Talk
Boisterous, angry words
Surround the room in a vindictive sheet
Whispers are collectively thrown
Talk
Why must we talk about others
Can we not find contentment within ourselves
What intrigue lies in the lives of others
Talk
Because we are jealous
They possess characteristics we will never have
Or have yet to obtain
Talk
Because we are inferior
They hold some power over us
We feel we can redeem ourselves if we destroy their hold over us
We will somehow rise if we overcome them
Talk
Because we admire them
We pay homage to their greatness in a flurry of words
We are captivated by their invisible aura
And our fascination can not be subdued and must be made known
Talk
Because we are afraid
They threaten us and all that we stand for
For fear they will rob us of what little we own
To survive we must
Talk
Because it is natural
Our instincts and society instills a mentality that forces uninformed judgment
This mentality is involuntary and can’t be prevented
Talk
Because it is entertaining
Lives that we can relate to or that are completely different from our own fascinate us
Whether our banter is cruel or kind
The subjects’ reactions enthrall us
Talk
Be it jealousy, self consciousness, admiration, fear, instinct, or amusement
We all have a motive
Just or unjust
To
Talk
