Ying-Ying Shiue My Wishing Star As I stare out through the window, Into the black and starry night, I close my eyes and sigh, At the glorious, beautiful sight. Then a little star shines out, Like the sun so very bright, My hope soars above the clouds, As I see this ray of light. I wish on that very star, Dreaming night and day, For your face to turn around, For your eyes to look my way. Your twinkling laugh and smile, Warm as the month of May, As I await my greatest wish, Of that one day you will stay. In the dark and chilling hours, My heart pounds and swells in fear. I’m wondering what you’re thinking of, And longing you were here. If only I knew your feelings, If only you were near, I’d not be wishing on a star tonight, Of your whispers in my ear. Telling me you love me, Telling me you care, That you think of me constantly, That you’ll always be there. A lifetime of adventures, Together we will share, How we’ve waited so long for this, Oh, it isn’t fair. I wish you knew my feelings. I wish you were my love. That’s why I’m wishing on a star tonight, On that very star above.
