"Never Again"

The glistening blade slipped from
his wet hands,
drenched with blood.
His beaded sweat dripped from his jaw and
landed with silence upon the warped hardwood floor.
The vein that protruded across his forehead, though pulsing madly before,
began to slow.
A plethora of aged pictures surrounded his feet.
His friends, family, and lovers stared at him with disgust.
He sank to his knees,
the patchwork he called carpet oozed with blood under his weight.
As darkness flowed past his tattered curtains and in through his window,
his bloodshot eyes failed to see.
His last words seeped from the deepest reaches of his lungs-
"Never Again."
His last breath reached his lips,
the thud of his body against the floor
shattered the unimaginable silence,
and he fell into the
everlasting night.
